‘NCANT: Reawakening Enchantment Through Art and Memory An immersive multimedia installation by Anna Netri and Anna Maria Angelucci Albano di Lucania, Italy – Le Notti della Magia 2025.

A spellbinding fusion of ceramic art, live performance, and video storytelling, ‘NCANT is a collaborative project by artists Anna Netri and Anna Maria Angelucci that reimagines the cultural memory of an ancient world — and brings it vividly to life.

Presented as part of Le Notti della Magia 2025, the project unfolds across three interwoven artistic expressions:

A permanent installation of 24 glazed earthenware tiles, evoking both domestic intimacy and collective heritage

A live performance featuring two women as archetypes, whose gestures — chatting on the doorstep, hanging a sheet embroidered with tiny fabric mice — revive ancestral rituals. The action, featuring a temporary installation via a nomadic display device, forms part of a three-phase project that explores enchantment through movement, memory, and materiality.

A video art piece set in a memory-filled home, where a woman recounts the playful tradition of fabric mice that once startled and delighted children.

At its heart, ‘NCANT is a celebration of feminine creativity, storytelling, and shared memory. The project is the result of a deep artistic partnership between Netri and Angelucci, who combined diverse media, techniques, and materials to craft a poetic homage to the women who once sat outside their homes, exchanging stories and secrets with neighbours and children.

“The enchantment we speak of isn’t fantasy — it’s the magic of everyday life, of gestures passed down through generations. We wanted to honour that, and to invite the community to see itself reflected in the work.”

The installation has resonated powerfully with the local community in Albano di Lucania, sparking conversations across generations and inspiring renewed appreciation for the region’s cultural roots.
