The mystery of the procession before dawn, the almost unsettling call of the troccola, the potatoes wrapped in foil beside the fire of Saint Anthony the Abbot, the rope of hair from the period of French rule, and other consciously wild acts of the “Pacc d’Alban”

 

restore rituals and humble, human gestures — gestures of deep collaboration and political strength — weaving together past and present, superstition and tradition, individuality and collectivity, thus capturing the magic of these places and binding it to that of other lands.
